The South African drinks group, Distell, is planning to introduce its cane spirit brand, Mainstay, Three Ships whisky and two wines under its Blouberg brand on the Indian market, it has been reported.

The products are being distributed through Agencies International, Distell’s distributor in India. Chetan Das, managing director of Agencies International, said the company would launch the Three Ships whisky brand first in Bangalore. “Based on the success, the company plans to launch it in Mumbai, Chennai and Kerala in phase two,” Das said. Das added that the two wines from Blouberg range being introduced were the Cape Riesling and the Sauvignon Blanc/Semillon blend.

The price position for the Distill products would be on a par with Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) brands, Das said. Mainstay would retail at around Rs970, while Three Ships will sell at Rs1,200. The wines are expected to retail for around Rs600 for a 75cl bottle.
