The Norwegian drinks company, Arcus-Gruppen, has reported a pre-tax profit for 2002 of NKr77.9m (US$10.6m/€9.9m) for 2002, down 3% from NKr80.4m (US$10.9m/€10.2m) in 2001.

However, operating profit rose from NKr65.7m (US$8.9m/€8.4m) to NKr69.8m (US$9.5m/€8.8m). The company said that its brandy sales had doubled in 2002, adding some NKr300m to group turnover.

Arcus-Gruppen said it was planning to double its alcohol sales in the Nordic region in the next few years by acquiring other alcohol distribution companies.
