Blog: Chris MercerSanta is binge drinking

Chris Mercer | 17 December 2009

Santa is an obese drunkard in charge (probably without a licence) of a flying sleigh and responsible for the wellbeing of some cute reindeer.

Would you trust a person like this? This is a question debated in the latest issue of the British Medical Journal.

"Santa’s behaviour and public image are at odds with contemporary accepted public health messages," says the author.

"Given Santa’s fame, he has considerable potential to influence individual and societal behaviour—and not necessarily for good," the article adds.

Time for regime change in the North Pole?
