Blog: Lucy BritnerAG Barr launches Funkin innovation search

Lucy Britner | 5 July 2017

AG Barr has lined up a Funkin campaign in the UK to find an 'innovation champion'.

The bartender competition, which launched this week, sees the winner join Funkin on a part-time, freelance basis for one year - a prize the firm said is worth around GBP6,000 (US$7,760). The successful candidate will have a hand in new product development at the company.

Entrants will not only be judged on whether their cocktails are innovative but also on whether they are easy to replicate and sellable. The final will take place during London Cocktail Week (2-8 October).

“In true Funkin fashion we move quickly to get products to market, so this year the winner will also have his or her cockatil served at the Funkin stand during London Cocktail Week following the competition," said the unit's MD Andrew King. "This is a great opportunity for the winner to receive immediate exposure and involve consumers in the competition."

AG Barr acquired Funkin in a deal worth GBP21m in 2015.
