The major assets and brand name of Margaret River winery Xanadu Wines will transfer to the RWGroup (a company of the Rathbone Family) later this month, following a vote by Xanadu shareholders on Friday to approve the deal.

The purchase includes the Margaret River winery, vineyards, restaurant and cellar door complex, Xanadu brand and selected wines.

Technical director Darren Rathbone said the family was thrilled with the move, having long admired the Margaret River region, its wines and winemakers.

"We have great belief in this unique Australian region and its distinct expression of 'terroir', said Rathbone.  "We will focus on ensuring the Xanadu brand encompasses uncompromising quality."

"We look forward to playing an active role in the region, developing further its international reputation for world class wine," he added.

It is expected that the transfer will be completed by 22 August.
