Teeling Whiskey Co's distillery will come on-stream later this year

The Teeling Whiskey Co has started construction work on building its new distillery in Ireland.

The firm, which announced its intention to construct a new facility earlier this year, said earlier today that the 500,000-litre capacity distillery should be in production by the end of this year. Located in The Liberties area of Dublin, the build marks the first new distillery in the city in around 125 years.

Around 30 permanent positions will be created once construction is completed.

“This project brings distilling back to an area of Dublin … which, at one stage, had 37 different operational distilleries,” said founder & MD Jack Teeling. “We aim to revive the 'Spirit of Dublin' by putting Dublin and Teeling Whiskey firmly back on the map again.”

Teeling Whiskey Co was set up by the family that sold Cooley Distillery to Beam Suntory - then Beam Inc - in early-2012.
