The South African wine company Winecorp has decided to shut down its European operations, which are based in London. The company will instead service its customers from its base in South Africa.

Private Liquor Brands, who already handle the distribution of the Spier brand in the UK and who have investments in the Winecorp business, will now also take on responsibility for the Longridge and Savanha ranges of wines in the UK. The rest of Winecorp's global sales network will now be managed directly from South Africa.

However, managing director of the European office, Adrian Garforth, appears to be leaving the company. Gerrie Wagener, MD of Winecorp South Africa said: "It is a great pity that Adrian is unable to relocate to South Africa. We would like to thank him for the outstanding job he has done in developing our distribution network and the business he has generated over the last four years."
