An ISWR study commissioned by the Vinexpo trade fair, shows that global turnover of the world wine market will increase by 15% over the next three years, largely due to sustained demand in the US, the UK and Germany.

In 2004, turnover reached US$100bn for the first time ever and is expected to increase to US$115bn by 2008.

The report also concludes that over this period France will lose its place as the leading country for wine consumption to the US. In 2003, France consumed 29m hectolitres of wine. The US consumed 21.5m hectolitres.

Vinexpo will be held in Bordeaux between 19 and 23 June.
