Wine growers in the south of France are to highlight the crisis in their wine industry, according to press reports. Agence France Presse said yesterday (13 July) that wine growers plan to distribute around 400,000 bottles of wine later this month at toll booths and along rural roads in the area.

As well as handing out the bottles, producers will distribute leaflets highlighting the over-production crisis that has hit the country's wine industry, AFP added.

France is poised to have another bumper harvest this summer, exacerbating the already difficult situation wine producers find themselves in.

The distribution of free wine will focus on tourists visiting the Aude department, AFP said.
