Record overseas sales but a continuing decline in price per litre are shown up in latest Australian wine export figures.

Compiled monthly by the Wine and Brandy Corporation on a rolling annual basis, they show total exports for the year ended February of 648m litres worth A$2.75 billion, (US$2.18 billion) up 18% on volume and 12% on value.

Average price per litre fell a further 5.1% to A$4.24.

The UK and US remain the major markets but there has been a surge in sales to Japan, up 47% to 8.8m litres worth A$47m.
