Wine exports for the first eleven months of last year fell by 15.6% according to recent figures in the Italian press.

Italian farmers' union Coldiretti reported last week that Italian exports to EU countries dropped by 4.8% between January and November 2003, while exports to non-EU countries and the US also fell, by 4.8% and 1.6% year-on-year respectively.

The Italian wine business is expected to increase in 2004, as wine consumption in Italy is predicted to grow by 6%.
