The Scottish distiller said today William Grant & Sons Deutschland will launch in January next year and forms part of the company's strategy to take its global distribution in-house. Markus Kramer, a former senior manager at Diageo and Bacardi, has been appointed MD of the distribution arm.

The move means an end to William Grant's exclusive distribution deal in Germany with Campari Group. The deal, which has run for the past seven years, ends in December.

"Over the past seven years, we have enjoyed a strong and mutually-beneficial partnership with Campari Deutschland, and I would like to thank the team for their dedication and professionalism over this period," said William Grant's regional president for EMEA, Rita Greenwood.

Greenwood said that by taking distribution in-house, William Grant is "investing in our own capabilities to further develop our business in Germany and the exciting opportunities this dynamic market offers".
