Whyte & Mackay has added a gin to its owned spirits portfolio in the UK. The Scotch whisky specialist, which owns the Jura and The Dalmore single malts, as well as its namesake blended Scotch, is launching Wildcat Gin in the country this week.

The gin is distilled using ten botanicals, including cat's claw root, which gives Wildcat "subtle hints of citrus, white pepper and spice".

"As a business, we recognised a key drinking occasion which is under served by current gin brands - night time," said the UK, France & Germany GM at Whyte & Mackay, Mike Greggs. "Wildcat Gin's … taste makes it perfect for a simple gin and tonic or a bramble cocktail to be enjoyed as the consumer sees fit - as part of a great night out."

The launch forms part of the "development" of Whyte & Mackay's premium spirits range. Earlier this Summer, the company rolled out a new blended Scotch – The Woodsman – designed to appeal to younger consumers. Then, last month, Whyte & Mackay unveiled updated rosters from the Fettercairn and Tamnavulin Scotch brands.
