The Irish government has revealed plans to put health warnings on all alcohol products, according to press reports. The Irish Independent reports that warnings could be on all cans and bottles of alcohol later this year.

An inter-governmental task force is looking at putting the warning notices on alcoholic products as part of a clampdown on Ireland's traditional drinking culture, the Independent reports. Other moves have included a blanket ban on happy hours, an earlier closing time for pubs on Thursdays and new powers for the police to randomly breath test drivers.

The task force is also looking closely at alcohol advertising campaigns and promotions aimed at young people.

The alcohol task force is expected to report its recommendations to Irish health minister Micheal Martin later this month.
