Vranken Pommery Monopole has seen its turnover for the first half jump 24.3% to €90.5m (US$108.3m), compared to €72.8m for the same period of 2004.

In a statement the Champagne House said that the gains were made mainly as a result of the growth of its international distribution network covering 87 countries.

The company has recently signed a distribution and marketing agreement for the wines of Domaines Listel, which registered more than 50m bottles sold in 2004.

The company said it was its hope that it could position Listel as the French competitor to New World wines.
