Vinexpo Bordeaux will take place in May next year

International wine and spirits exhibition company Vinexpo has confirmed the departure of its CEO.

The organisation said today that Guillaume Deglise, who took up the role in 2013, will leave after the Hong Kong exhibition, which is scheduled to take place from 29-31 May. Vinexpo said Deglise will embark upon "new career projects".

"We salute Guillaume Deglise's guidance and professionalism," said Patrick Seguin, president of Vinexpo's executive board & chairman of the Bordeaux-Gironde Chamber of Commerce. "He managed to develop the brand Vinexpo in a highly competitive sector."

Deglise is credited with lining up new exhibitions in Tokyo, New York and Paris as well as developing Vinexpo Hong Kong and leading the recovery of the flagship Vinexpo Bordeaux.

A replacement is yet to be announced.

Last October, the company announced plans to bring forward Vinexpo Bordeaux. The 2019 exhibition will take place from 13-19 May. Last year's edition, which took place towards the end of June, coincided with a heatwave.
