Vincor International is looking to make acquisitions in Chile. Speaking at a conference in Toronto on Tuesday (21 September), Vincor CEO Donald Triggs said that most of the company's future growth would be in markets where it is already established, especially Australia and the US. Vincor also owns brands from Canada, New Zealand and South Africa.

While future acquisitions in these markets will lead to hard cost savings, Triggs said that the exception is the Chilean market, where the company is looking for a "beachhead acquisition."

Triggs also said that there are many strong wineries in Chile, and that the company would focus on companies that have an established brand and marketing presence.

Triggs declined to comment on whether Vincor would consider acquiring assets from Robert Mondavi, who announced last week that it plans to sell its luxury brands and other non-strategic assets. "The US is a high priority market for us . . ." Triggs said. "We're always looking at new opportunities. I wish I could comment on the specific opportunities, but I can't."
