Vincor International today announced the acquisition of another of Canada's premier VQA wineries, Hawthorne Mountain Vineyards in British Columbia's southern Okanagan Valley. This is the second Okanagan Valley VQA winery Vincor has acquired in the past three months.
"This acquisition continues Vincor's growth strategy and strengthens our leadership position as Canada's premier wine company in one of the fastest growing segments of the wine industry," said Donald L. Triggs, Vincor President and Chief Executive Officer. "It adds to our growing supply of premium Okanagan grapes and enhances Vincor's reputation as Canada's leading producer of premium VQA wines," said Mr. Triggs. Ensuring a supply of premium quality grapes is seen as one of the most significant opportunities for the Canadian wine industry in the coming years.

Terms of the acquisition were not released. Hawthorne Mountain Vineyards produces exclusively premium VQA wine, the gold standard for wines in Canada.

In April, Vincor acquired Hawthorne Mountain's sister winery, Sumac Ridge Estate Winery. Sumac Ridge has won more than 50 medals in international wine competitions in the past year and has received extensive praise from wine enthusiasts for its superior quality wines.

"Vincor will continue to invest in these kinds of growth opportunities and expand our marketing and sales initiatives to support the development of strong consumer brands," Mr. Triggs said. "Our most recent acquisitions, our new products, our pricing and promotion strategies, and our portfolio of dynamic consumer brands, will all contribute to Vincor's excellent long-term growth prospects."
