A company that claims to be Scotland's first luxury Tequila producer has launched a range of Tequilas, some of which are aged in whisky casks.

UWA Tequila's Platinum Blanco and Reposado were rolled out to the UK market last month, with plans to expand the range to the US this year. The Reposado is aged for seven months in Speyside Scotch whisky casks exported to UWA's partner distillery in Tequila, Mexico.

A 14-month-aged Añejo is due to be released early this year, UWA said.

Michael Ballantyne, founder and CEO of UWA Tequila, said: "The similarities in creating refined spirits is something I've been extremely interested in, and having a love for whisky and Tequila, I wanted to produce something completely niche to the market and bring innovation into traditional practices whilst showcasing two incredible countries."

UWA Tequila is headquartered in Aberdeen.
