United States Distilled Products Co (USDP) has poached a former Diageo executive to be its new CEO.

Mike Duggan took up the role on 1 January, the Minneapolis-based producer announced today. Duggan spent around 15 years at Diageo and was most recently the firm's GM for its US control division west.

Privately-owned USDP, which owns the UV vodka brand, has been without a permanent CEO since Pedro Caceres left the group in September 2013, according to a company spokesperson. Patty Pelzer, USDP’s CFO, acted as interim CEO in that time.

Dean Phillips, USDP's chairman, described Duggan as a "great addition" to the company.

Duggan added: “The company’s success in developing new innovations while maintaining the reputation of some of today’s most respected, heritage spirits will allow me to leverage my past experience to help take the company to the next level.”

USDP said Duggan will oversee the “continued growth and expanded distribution” of spirits brands, including the Phillips Distilling Co portfolio, a subsidiary of USDP, which includes UV Vodka flavoured vodkas, Prairie Organic Spirits, Revel Stoke Whiskies, Phillips Spirits, and Sour Puss Liqueurs.
