United Spirits has appointed Vineet Chhabra as chief commercial officer as it seeks to bolster its presence outside of India, according to a report.

United Spirits' owner, billionaire Vijay Mallya, was quoted by the Times of India newspaper today (29 June) as saying that the group is working to identify high growth markets in Asia and Africa.

Chhabra has been brought onboard as COO in order to help facilitate United Spirits' advance beyond India, the paper said. United Spirits controls around two third of spirits sales by volume in India.

The details of the report could not be immediately confirmed by just-drinks.
