United Airlines has signed a five-year beverage agreement with Coca-Cola Co. to make it the airline's primary soft drink supplier.

The partnership will be effective from today (1 May) and offers customers a choice of the brand's eight Coca-Cola drinks, while also providing unspecified economic benefits for United.

"We are pleased to partner with a world-class brand such as Coca-Cola, and believe the variety of beverage selections they offer will appeal to our customers' tastes and complement our other onboard food and beverage offerings," said United senior vice president for flight operations and onboard service Sean Donohue.

United will also offer Coke products in its airport lounges and offices later this year.
