Unionised workers at Canada's Labatt Breweries have agreed to terms that will see the company close its plant in New Westminster, British Columbia.

The agreement will see Labatt, which is owned by InBev, pay the laid off workers C$5.5m (US$4.6m).

This is in addition to C$1m in support that is being paid over the closure of the Pacific Coast brewery, which was announced in September.
