McDowell & Co Ltd, the spirits arm of the Indian United Breweries (UB) group, has announced that it is seeking to market its rum brands internationally.

McDowell is looking to form international alliances with overseas companies to develop its rum portfolio, which is headed by the Celebration XXX brand and also includes Old Cask and Bagpiper Rum, in export markets.

President of McDowell, Vijay Rekhi, believes there is strong potential for Indian rums in export markets. "Small Caribbean islands/countries have run away with this market," Rekhi said. "I think there is a huge potential to harness the country's capability in this segment."
