The move, announced yesterday, sees Graetz's portfolio fill the gap in Folio Fine Wine's Italian offering that was created by the departure of Frescobaldi Group five months ago. US importation and distribution had previously been handled in-house by Graetz's Minerality Wines division.

"I am thrilled to join Folio Fine Wine Partners," said Gratez. "I am excited to see our wines grow to the next level of success in the US market and am very positive about the partnership ahead."

Michael Mondavi added: "Bibi's own creativity and vision, coupled with his commitment to retaining and nurturing old vineyards and preserving traditional varieties … make this the perfect addition to our portfolio."

Based in Tuscany, Graetz's flagship offering is his 100% Sangiovese-blended Testamatta Rosso, which is available at US$99 per bottle in the US. The full 11-strong portfolio ranges from the $15 Casamatta Rosso and Bianco to Colore, which retails at $600 per bottle.
