French wines and spirits group, Remy Cointreau, posted consolidated turnover of €212.1m ($210.4m) for the first quarter of 2002, representing a 2.2% increase on the comparable period last year.

Turnover from its Cognac division reached €76.5m ($75.9m), down marginally from last year's figure of €77.7m ($77.1m). However, the liqueurs division saw turnover rise by 10% from €38.6m ($38.3m) to €42.4m ($42.1m).

Remy Cointreau's wine and Champagne businesses also recorded an increase in turnover from €17.3m ($17.15m) to €21.8m ($21.6m). The group's distilling business posted a sharp drop in turnover from €43.8m ($43.4m) to €36.1m ($35.8m).
