The Taiwanese Premier, Yu Shyi-kun, has appointed Huang Ying-shan, dean of the National Taipei University Business College, as chairman of the Taiwan Tobacco and Wine Co. (TTWC), the state-owned company which was formed earlier this year from the country's former liquor monopoly.

Vice Premier, Lin Hsin-yi, said Huang has been chosen because of his widely recognized practical experience in the business sector and his academic achievements. The TTWC controls around 75% of Taiwan's now de-monopolised liquor market.
