US winery owner Charles Banks has promised to plough fresh funds into Trinity Hill after becoming a partner with the New Zealand wine maker.

Banks, who owns Terroir Selections, will “invest the necessary capital” in Trinity Hill, the two companies said today (11 February). The deal will see Terroir Selections distribute Trinity Hills in the US alongside wines from its own vineyards, including Mayacamas in California and South African winery Mulderbosch.

“I have been hugely impressed by the strides the New Zealand wine industry has made in the last 12 years and I feel the future is very bright,” Banks said of the new partnership. “Trinity Hill is in a terrific position to prosper having consistently delivered high quality wines across its range.”

Trinity Hill's chairman & co-founder, Robyn Wilson, said Trinity Hill will now re-enter the US premium wine market after a five-year absence.

Wilson said: “Not only do we now have the best American distributor a New Zealand winery could wish for, but Charles' decision to join us as a partner will allow us to develop in areas we would not have been able to achieve on our own.”

No financial details of the deal have been disclosed.

Trinity Hill also exports to the UK, where in December it announced it was changing its distributor from Enotria to Liberty Wines.
