Treasury Wine Estates has lined up a US$2,350 wine iteration of its Penfolds Grange brand. The release, called g3, is blended from three Grange vintages spanning seven years - 2008, 2012 and 2014.

"It's Penfolds 'House Style' distilled ... Penfolds g3 is a natural end-result of the venerated art of blending," said Penfolds chief winemaker Peter Gago. "It is a blend where each individual vintage selected delivers a depth of character and flavour honouring our flagship Grange."

The 2014 vintage is scheduled for its own release in 2018, the company said.

The launch of g3 was held in Hong Kong, yesterday. The release is limited to 1,200 bottles.

Grange is a multi-vineyard multi-district blend, which was first developed in 1951.
