Tito's is already available in the UK and Thailand

Tito's Handmade Vodka owner Fifth Generation has secured distribution in five new countries as the brand continues to widen its global footprint.

From this month, Tito's will be available in the on- and off-trade in South Korea, Greece, Panama, Guatemala and Costa Rica, Fifth Generation said yesterday. It follows listings for brand in the UK, Guam and Thailand.

The brand, which sold an estimated 1.3m cases last year, has been successful in its home market: In August Pernod Ricard CEO Pierre Pringuet blamed the vodka for causing a drop-off in sales for the Absolut brand in the US.

However, overseas Tito's has less recognition. Speaking to just-drinks in October, Fifth Generation's international MD John McDonnell said: “If you think the whole world knows about Tito's, that's not the case."

McDonnell, Patron Spirits' former COO, has ramped up Tito's world-wide footprint from four markets to about 40 since joining Fifth Generation 15 months ago.

The entry of Tito's into South Korea may cause more headaches for Pernod, which has seen its Scotch brands suffer in the country because of trends towards vodka from younger consumers.
