United Spirits will see three of its independent directors leave

Diageo has confirmed that three of United Spirits' independent directors are to leave the company's board. 

G.N. Bajpai, Arunkumar Ramanlal Gandhi and Vikram Singh Mehta have indicated they are not seeking re-election at the Indian group's AGM on 30 September. When contacted by just-drinks, a spokesperson for Diageo, which is United Spirits' majority-owner, declined to comment further.  

According to Livemint.com, United Spirits has 12 board members, of which six are independent.  

Last week, the unit reported that its full-year net losses have widened to INR44.9bn (US$742.7m). The firm has launched an inquiry into loans given to other companies within United Spirits' parent company, The UB Group
