Following the release of its Q1 results yesterday, Anheuser-Busch InBev CEO Carlos Brito described the three-month period as having been "one of the most challenging quarters in many years" for Brazil.

Last weekend, news broke of yet another craft brewery acquisition by Anheuser-Busch InBev. This time, however, it was not in the US but in Italy. Birra del Borgo is a small-yet-innovative brewer in Borgorose, a town in the central province of Rieti. Chemistry teacher Leonardo Di Vincenzo founded it 11 years ago, and today it produces beers including the core ReAle IPA and the Pilsner-style My Antonio.

A ThaiBev executive has warned that world beer in Europe is under increased pressure as brands chase diminishing market share.
