An armed gang has seized over half-a-million pounds worth of Scotch whisky in Scotland. The 10,800-bottle haul was stolen near Glasgow Airport on Tuesday (15 March) night.

According to the Scottish Daily Record, two men kidnapped the driver of the lorry for five hours while the haul was unloaded. The vehicle had been carrying around 1,800 six-bottle cases of Buchanan's 18-year-old deluxe export-only blended malt.

Detective Sergeant Campbell MacGregor told the newspaper: "This was a particularly high-value robbery believed to have been committed with the use of a fire-arm. The whisky is in square bottles with 'Spanish For Export' labels."
