Edrington is set to run two television adverts for its The Famous Grouse blended Scotch brand in the UK and, for the first time, Sweden.

The ads, one of which can be viewed above, will launch in the run-up to Christmas, with the first ad running from this week. The second TV spot will air in November.

The company said it will back the commercials with out-of-home activations in the UK including bus shelter ads. An investment of around GBP2m (US$2.4m) – the largest Christmas spend on The Famous Grouse – will go into the campaign in the country.

"Christmas is always a key season for The Famous Grouse, but this year will be even bigger and better," said John Penman, marketing controller for The Famous Grouse at UK distributor Maxxium. "We've invested a significant amount in this festive period and it'll be the first time we've run two new adverts for The Famous Grouse in rotation."

In July, Edrington reported a 9% slide in profits for the 12 months to the end of March. Sales came in flat, with the company flagging a slide in volumes for The Famous Grouse in the UK, "in the face of intense competitive pressure".
