Uzzell, whose Venturing & Emerging Brands (VEB) division has spearheaded a number of acquisitions for Coca-Cola in the past few years, will exit the company on 8 January, a spokesperson told just-drinks. He takes on his new role of Converse president & CEO from 22 January.

Converse is a subsidiary of clothing giant Nike.

Uzzell's replacement has yet to be announced. Coca-Cola's spokesperson said Uzzell is "committed to helping ensure a smooth transition to the successor for this very important role".

In December, VEB bought a minority stake in Dirty Lemon beverage owner Iris Nova for an undisclosed sum. The unit was also the destination for sparkling water brand Topo Chico when Coca-Cola bought it in 2017.

Also in December, Uzzell announced that brands including Topo Chico and Zico coconut water were to "graduate" from VEB and move into mainstream Coca-Cola distribution in North America.

Uzzell has been at Coca-Cola since 2000, according to Converse. He spent almost two years at Zico after its acquisition by Coca-Cola.
