The Coca-Cola Co has dropped its trademark-infringement lawsuit against PepsiCo over the packaging of the latter's Trop50 juice brand.

US district Judge Sim Lake dismissed the case after the two soft drinks firms submitted a joint motion to terminate the suit. Terms of the settlement were not disclosed.

Coca-Cola filed the lawsuit against its rival in October claiming that the packaging for PepsiCo's Trop50 fruit juice line would "likely deceive consumers and dilute the quality" of its own Simply brand of juices.

"We are pleased we were able to amicably resolve this dispute," a Coca-Cola spokesperson told just-drinks today (9 May). "We will continue to diligently protect the Simply brand's iconic and distinctive packaging against imitators and copycats."
