'Share a Coke and a Song' will appear across all of brand Coca-Cola's products

The Coca-Cola Co is to put lyrics from well-known songs on US cans and bottles as it looks to build on the success of its Share-a-Coke campaign.

The company said today lyrics from more than 70 songs by artists including Queen, Bill Withers and Nelly will appear on Coke packaging from next month. The 'Share a Coke and a Song' push is a "major evolution" for one of Coca-Cola's most successful US campaigns, the company said.

"During the past two years, we have seen incredible enthusiasm from people who loved the personal touch of our 'Share a Coke' campaign," said Racquel Harris Mason, VP for Coca-Cola/Coke Zero in North America. "Evolving the campaign from providing individual names to now expressing the sentiments that music lyrics communicate is our way of celebrating that excitement."

Examples of the lyrics include "The Way You Love Me", "We Are The Champions", "It's Getting Hot in Here" and "Lean on Me".

Song lyrics will be available on 8oz glass bottles, 7.5oz mini cans, 20oz bottles, 1.25- and 2-litre bottles and 12oz cans of Coca-Cola, Diet Coke, Coke Zero and Coca-Cola Life. From 18 April, consumers can visit to choose from a list of lyrics to customise bottles.

The Share-a-Coke campaign was first launched in Australia in 2011 and was exported to other Coca-Cola networks after it reportedly helped increase young adult consumption by 7%
