Teeling Whiskey Co has released the first spirit to be made at its distillery in Dublin. The company, set up by the family that sold Cooley Distillery to Beam Suntory in late-2011, has launched Spirit of Dublin poitín in the Irish off-trade.

Having officially opened its production facility in Dublin last year , Teeling Whiskey Co described the poitín as a "sneak peek" at the liquid that will be used in the coming years to produce Irish whiskey.

"Poitín is at the heart of all true Irish spirits and will be the base for future whiskey releases from our new distillery," said company founder Jack Teeling

Earlier this week, Pernod Ricard confirmed that it is set to sell the fourth-largest Irish whiskey brand, Paddy, to Sazerac.
