The days of corked wine could be over. A French scientist has produced a kit which, he claims, can restore the original taste and bouquet of wine, according to a report today on the Times' Website.

Gérard Michel, a biochemist from Burgundy, has invented a pack, called Dream Taste, which costs €40. The pack restores the intended taste and bouquet of wines affected by the molecule 2,4,6 trichloroanisole (TCA), which can be found in some corks.

The kit consists of a copolymer, a material that draws TCA molecules out of the wine, the paper said.

About GBP341m worth of wine is found to be polluted every year, the paper noted.
