The US Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) has launched an online tool for alcohol manufacturers that tells them what changes they can make to labels without reapplying for TTB approval.

The bureau said the tool, launched on Friday (20 June), automatically generates allowable changes, complete with sample labels to view. It said it will allow producers of beer, wine and spirits to understand changes they can make to approved labels without submitting a new Application for and Certification/Exemption of Label/Bottle Approval (COLA).

The label generator follows news this month that the TTB had exempted 30 new fruits and spices from having to be listed during formula submissions for new beers.
