According to Britvic Soft Drinks over 65,000 Tango drinkers have so far logged on to the Tango website which is offering £1.50 (US$2.10) free mobile phone talk time.

The UK based company said that over half of the 65,000 visitors to the site have registered for their £1.50 worth of free calls in the promotion, which has been running since May and is designed to drive brand awareness and sales.

"This is an exceptionally high rate of conversion from site visitors to actual registrations and demonstrates the high appeal of the promotion of Tango's target market," said a spokesman for Britvic.

In addition, said Britvic 23% of consumers visiting the website have registered for the promotion on more than one occasion.

"As part of our Right Choice category management programme, Britvic is dedicated to driving our brands using innovative and enticing offers," said director of brand marketing, Cathryn Sleight.

"Tango has a strong history of popular on-pack mechanics and Tango Talk has proved that the brand is a hit among its core youth 'mobile generation' audience. Tango is now giving free calls to more than 1,000 Tango drinkers a day," she added.

Britvic now plans to repeat the promotion on Tango 500ml packs in August.
