Systembolaget has seen a 2.5% rise in sales in the first nine months of the year in terms of pure alcohol.

The rise at the Swedish state-run alcohol retailing monopoly between January and September was down to a lower rate of cross-border shopping.

Despite the overall rise, Systembolaget's spirits sales fell 2.7%. Wine sales were up 3.4% and strong beer sales rose 3.5% in the period. Cider sales were down 1.5% but mixed drinks were up 12.4% and alcohol-free beverages jumped 16.9%.
