The chairman of Systembolaget has announced his intention to retire.

Olof Johansson said late last week that he will step down from the position next month. Johansson, 71, will be replaced by Carole Lemne at the Swedish state-owned alcohol retail monopoly.

Confirming the change to just-drinks today (18 February), a spokesperson for Systembolaget said that Lemne has been put forward as the new chairperson by the country's Ministry of Health and Social Affairs.

Johansson will remain in the post until a shareholder's meeting on 13 March, the spokesperson added.

Lemne is currently the CEO of a private medical care company in Sweden. Prior to this post, she headed up a hospital outside Stockholm.
