The Russian brewer Sun Interbrew has corrected claims that it is planning to build a €50m brewery in Siberia.

In September an official at the Irkutsk administration had said that Russia's second largest brewer had in principle made a decision to build the brewery, with a final decision due to be made at the end of October.

However, talking to reporters, company senior vice president Irina Kibina said: "This information was spread by the Irkutsk regional administration by mistake.

"The Irkutsk region has been considered as one of the sites at a very preliminary level. There is no progress in this issue," Kibina added.
