SUN InBev has announced a change of president.

The current president of the Russia-based unit of global brewer InBev, Joseph Strella, is moving to become chairman, with Mihai Albu assuming the position, a spokesperson for the company confirmed to just-drinks today (25 January).

Albu joined InBev in 1996 as sales and marketing director, having joined the company from Pepsi Romania. In 2002, he was appointed general manager for Romania and, since 2006, he has been business unit president initially for Hungary, Czech Republic, Croatia and Cuba, later taking responsibility for Serbia, Montenegro, Romania and Bulgaria - altogether forming the Central Europe & Cuba business unit.

As SUN InBev's new president, Albu will be in charge of operational control for BU Russia.

Strella was elected to the position of chairman by SUN InBev's board earlier this month.

"I am glad to welcome Joe and Mihai as directors of SUN InBev," said Francisco Sa, InBev's zone president for Central & Eastern Europe. "I am sure that their huge experience and professionalism will help us continue to deliver great results in InBev Russia."
