The Romanian privatisation agency APAPS has announced that it has put the alcohol producer and distiller Biosin in Calafat, southern Romania up for privatisation.

The deadline for submitting bids for Biosin is September 24, 2002. APAPS will sell 2.1 million shares or a 91.33% stake in Biosin in final-offer negotiations. The remaining shares are owned by the Romanian investment company SIF Oltenia.

The privatisation of Biosin is part of the World Bank-financed PSAL I programme, which supports privatisation, financial sector reorganisation and business environment development in Romania.
