According to figures released by the Federal Statistics Office, sparkling wine sales in Germany fell by 12.9% in 2002 to 248.8m litres.

Per capita sparkling wine consumption fell by 3% to 4.1m litres. Germany's sparkling wine exports decreased by 10.9% to 16.6m litres.
