Sales of German sparkling wine reached 314.1m on the domestic market in 2001, a fall of 3.5% from the previous year, the German trade association of sparkling wine producers has revealed.

On the German market in total 451.9m bottles of sparkling wines were sold, including imports, a 13.3% decrease.

Despite the fall, the trade association, representing 100 German companies, expects a slight rise in 2002.
