Southern Wine & Spirits has made a number of senior appointments in a bid to strengthen its wine management team in the US.

Brett Dunne has been promoted internally from general sales manager and vice president of Metro to general manager and vice president of wine for New York, the company said yesterday (22 September).

James Bonavita has been appointed general sales manager of wine for Metro New York; and John Gregory has been promoted to vice president, business intelligence for wine.

The appointments are effective immediately.

Gregory has over 20-years experience in the wine industry, previously serving as director of pricing, New York State, Southern Wine & Spirits of New York.

Bonavita most recently served as a senior sales executive at a major wine and spirits distributor in Metro New York.

Larry Goodrich, executive vice president and general manager of Southern Wine & Spirits of New York said: "Each of these talented executives will continue and enhance our company's already top-performing wine management and sales teams in New York."

Southern Wine & Spirits of America this week abandoned its proposed distribution venture with Glazer's Distributors. The two US companies said they had terminated discussions due to "the sheer complexity of the transaction".
