Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits has created a chief transformation officer role

US distributor Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits has created a new chief transformation officer role as it looks to identify growth opportunities.

SGWS said yesterday that John Wittig, who is president of the distributor's East Region, will take up the new position. He will assume the chief transformation officer role on 1 July.

SGWS said the new job involves "identifying and executing opportunities for profitable growth within Southern Glazer's existing business units and in yet-untapped markets and product segments". Wittig will report to SGWS CEO Wayne Chaplin and COO Brad Vassar.

"John has a proven track record of facilitating change and driving long-term, sustainable business results," said Vassar. "His diverse experience across multiple functions and disciplines in the beverage alcohol industry will be invaluable as he helps Southern Glazer's leaders design and deploy transformational initiatives for the organisation."

Wittig will be replaced in his East Region role by Gene Sullivan, currently the EVP & GM of SGWS of Florida.
